Simple ideas are the best – part 2

DeleteDevices JDisc Discovery Delete Devices

DeleteDevices JDisc Discovery Delete Devices Again, one of our customers had an idea that easy to implement, but adds a huge benefit.

Within our network inventory solution, a user can delete devices from the database. However when you run the discovery again, the device gets discovered again and added to the database. Although it is possible to define IP exclusion ranges to exclude single or a range of devices from the discovery, this is unnecessarily complex. The user had to open the discovery settings dialog, remember the device’s IP address and add it as an exclusion range.

To improve usability, we have added the option “Delete and exclude devices” to the delete confirmation dialog. With this option, JDisc deletes the device from the database and adds all IP addresses to the exclusion ranges. The device will not discovered again unless the user removes the exclusion range again.
