How to integrate Password Manager AceBit with JDisc Discovery

Dear JDisc users,

due to customers requests, we have integrated a new password manager called AceBIT  Password Depot.

Generally, password managers are essential tools in the digital age, offering a secure and convenient way to manage the growing number of passwords required for online accounts. As the volume and complexity of online services increase, so does the challenge of creating and remembering strong, unique passwords for each one. Relying on simple or repeated passwords exposes users to significant security risks, as a breach on one platform can compromise other accounts. Password managers address this issue by securely storing and organizing passwords, allowing users to create complex, unique passwords for each account without the need to remember them all.

As in other password managers integrated in the past, your passwords are no longer stored within JDisc Discovery’s database but stay in AceBIT Password Depot Server. The JDisc Discovery only requests the passwords from AceBITPasswordDepotServer via its Rest API when needed for device scans.

To use this new integration, you must configure a user within the AceBITPasswordDepotServer to allow API accessibility. Once that’s done, you must configure the AceBIT Password Depot server with the user in JDisc Discovery.

Once this menu item is selected a new dialog window will appear containing the lists of all configured AceBIT Password Depot connections and of course you can add new ones.

Once the connection is configured, you might select a password manager account instead of entering the credentials. Click on the link within the Manager Passwords section. That’ll open a new dialog window which then lists all configured password managers. Selecting the AceBIT Password Depot will display the list of databases, folders, and passwords configured in the AceBIT Password Depot App.

Just select an Account that belongs either on the database or to a folder.
JDisc Discovery queries the AceBIT Password Depot whenever it needs the current username or password for scanning devices.
We hope you like this new feature extending the password managers hosted inside JDisc Discovery.

Cheers,
Raphael
