JDisc Just Got Smarter: Full EOL (End of Life) Tracking for Apps & OSs

Dear JDisc friends,
detecting end of life (EOL) software is crucial for maintaining a secure, compliant, and efficient IT environment. EOL software no longer receives security patches, updates, or vendor support, making it a prime target for cyberattacks. Additionally, using unsupported software can lead to compliance violations with industry standards and regulations. By identifying and replacing EOL software in time, organizations can mitigate security risks, ensure operational stability, and avoid potential legal and financial penalties.
Following our recent introduction of End-of-Life (EOL) tracking in JDisc Discovery, we’re excited to share that this feature has also been extended to applications. Managing IT infrastructure goes beyond just tracking operating systems; knowing when applications reach their EOL is equally crucial.
Applications Now Included in JDisc’s EOL (end of life) Tracking
Just like with operating systems, JDisc Discovery now assigns EOL data to applications whenever a device is scanned. This process is fully automated, ensuring real-time updates with no manual effort. Additionally, users can manually assign EOL data to applications for already scanned devices, providing flexibility to keep inventory data up to date.
Refined End Of Life Reports – Now More Intuitive
Based on user feedback, we have streamlined the reports. Instead of three separate reports, we now provide two dedicated reports under Software -> End of Life:
- Operating System End-of-Life Report: Displays Active Support, Security Support, and Extended Support dates for operating systems. Users can easily sort by any of these columns and indicators to prioritize their focus.
- Application End-of-Life Report: – Similar to the OS report, but focused on applications, allowing users to track software lifecycle information with the same sortable fields.
This new structure makes it easier for users to analyze, sort, and act on lifecycle data in a more efficient way.

New Indicator for ‘No Announced EOL Date’
In response to a customer request, we have added a fourth status indicator. In addition to:
- OK: The system/application is fully supported.
- Expires Soon: Support ends in less than 90 days (action needed).
- Expired: Support has ended (immediate action needed).
We now have:
- Not yet announced: Flagging operating systems and applications that do not have an official date in the Endoflife.date portal. This ensures users can distinguish between software with known lifecycles and those where no data is available.
Expanded EOL Data Collection
We have extended our data collection from Endoflife.date, capturing even more details about software lifecycles. This improvement ensures that IT teams have the most accurate and complete information available when planning updates and decommissioning legacy software.
New Troubleshooting Reports for EOL Status
To further support IT teams, we’ve added two new reports under Troubleshooting -> End of Life:
- Supported Operating Systems Report: Displays which OS versions are right now implemented and supported.
- Supported Applications Report: Shows the applications that are implemented and supported.
These reports provide a quick way for users to verify which operating systems and applications are covered by JDisc Discovery.
Stay Ahead of End Of Life Risks with JDisc
With these updates, JDisc Discovery ensures accurate, up-to-date lifecycle tracking for OSs and applications. Whether you’re scanning new devices with JDisc’s IP Scanner or updating existing data manually, these improvements make tracking lifecycles easier than ever.
Start using the new EOL features today to keep your IT assets secure!
Cheers,
Raphael
